HEALTH EDUCATION & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
SIPA’s Health Education and Community Outreach programs provide vital information to improve the quality of life for youth and families. Major outreach initiatives include:

 

Youth Health Workshops are conducted at SIPA to empower youth by giving them the knowledge they need to make wise choices and lead productive lives. Workshops focus on prevention-education subjects such as alcohol, tobacco, substance abuse and teen pregnancy.

 

Alliance to Keep youth Tobacco-free (AKT-Youth), currently in the city of West Covina, strives to reduce youth access to tobacco through education and community activities.

High school students in West Covina interested in gaining community service hours are encouraged to attend AKT-Youth's after school meetings. AKT-Youth students develop leadership skills and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on their community.

The Telecommunications Education and Assistance in Multiple-languages (TEAM) project is designed in particular for those with minimal English-speaking skills and the elderly. By holding workshops and bill clinics, program staff provide vital information to individuals about their rights regarding cell phone, internet and calling-card bills and regulations.

SIPA can help.

FREE phone service assistance services are now available for Tagalog speaking / Filipino phone customers and others in need of assistance, through a Consumer Education Program at Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA).  This is applicable to both cell phone and home phone (landline) bills.

SIPA can help you if:

  • You think your phone bills are higher than they should be. You are paying for phone services and packages that you don’t need or don’t use. If there suspicious charges on your phone bill that you didn’t authorize or request. For senior citizens – if have you been dropped from your Lifeline phone plan.

  • You have a complaint for a phone card that you use to call long distance.

How to get help from SIPA:

  • Bring in your phone bills and sit down one-on-one with an advisor to look over your bill. The charges on your bill might be unnecessary.

Nagbibigay ang SIPA ng phone service assistance na LIBRE para sa mga Tagalog-speaking o Filipino na konsumer o sa mga ibang tao na nangangailangan ng tulong. Ito ay ihinahandog sa inyo ng isang programa para sa Consumer Education sa Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA).  Ang programang ito ay para sa bills ng landline at cell phone.

Makakatulong ang SIPA kung:

  • Iniisip ninyo na mas mataas ang mga phone bills ninyo Nagbabayad kayo ng mga serbisyo na hindi ninyo kailangan o ginagamitMay mga charges na hindi ninyo inauthorize o narequestPara sa mga senior citizens – kung natanggal kayo sa Lifeline phone plan
